Jam Factory

Jam Factory…

A big band with a difference! Ear Players, improvisors or simply note readers all welcome. A chance to hone reading and/or improvising skills. Presenting a regular programme of music to live audiences in a jazz club setting. Play in your preferred style, be it Blues, Jazz, Funk, Reggae and Soul. Caters purely for intermediate instrumentalists. A professional rhythm section at two sessions per month. Performance in small groups with the rhythm section encouraged. Regular guest performers share their musical knowledge. A community non profit organisation.

Influences…

On one of my many visits to Havana I was struck not only by the standard of local community bands but also by the vitality and infectious energy of the local groups. Quite often when a musician reaches an intermediate level it is very difficult to find a rhythm section without fully committing to a band. My aim is to provide the opportunity to develop music skills in an informal setting whilst retaining the vivacity and uninhibited enjoyment of live music and performance. Viva La Musica!
